🇺🇸 US Political Violence Database
(Paginated Mode)
Collection of historical records of violent incidents in the United States, spanning from 1782 to the present day. The dataset is categorized by date, incident type, subtypes, casualties, geographical location of the violence, documented fatalities, and the authoritative sources from which this data is derived. Additionally, each entry includes a detailed narrative describing the specific circumstances surrounding the violent incident.
This dataset is still a work in progress, especially for the 2010–2025 period. Suggestions for missing events are welcome. Please contact us at seshatghd@gmail.com.

Term Definition
Riot A group (12 or more people) attempting to impose their will through the use of lethal force outside the normal bounds of law (“group on group”)
Lynching A group of people killing one or few persons (“group on individual”)
Terrorism One or few people attempting to kill many members of a certain social category: racial, ethnic, government, school, business, society as a whole (“individual on group”)
Assassination One or few people killing another individual belonging to a certain social category (“individual on individual”)
